Mary Young
Mary spent her childhood hanging out with her father in his fabrication shop. Upon graduating from high school, she knew her future was in ironworking even though her father strongly discouraged her from it with his words being: “go out get an education and build a career.” She followed her father’s direction, graduated from Shasta College with an AA in General Education and an AS Degree in Agriculture. From there She attended Cal Poly SLO, graduated with a BS Degree in Agricultural Systems and Management. Since finishing her education, she spent 7 years in manufacturing as a supervisor working for companies such as Diamond Foods, Blue Diamond Growers and Panasonic. Her true passion was still knocking at the door. In the spring of 2018 she quit her manufacturing career and picked up where she left off after high school and began working for her father’s company. She joined the Local 118 Ironworkers Apprenticeship and turned out from the program as a Journeyman Ironworker in fall of 2022. She has now started her own company servicing the industrial manufacturing industry with ironwork services.
